Zimbabwe is a country in crisis! Economic and
political instability has left what was once a
thriving nation with the highest inflation rate in
the world and the lowest life expectancy. 80% of
the population are unemployed! The AIDS
pandemic has left thousands of children without
parents, having to fend for themselves or rely on
older siblings or grandparents to care for them.
Together these factors have led to the breakdown of
tradtional extended family networks that would
normally care for those at risk. As a result, many of
the most needy and vulnerable children find
themselves on the street, either abandoned or
having run away from abusive cirucumstances.
